Have Any Ideas for JAKE?

JAKE is a volunteer organization aimed to help the growth of the local music scene without the use of social media. If you have any ideas or want to get involved please send us an email and we would be happy to collaborate. We cannot do JAKE without you, the reader. Thank you for your support and let's continue to make JAKE the best newsletter it can be.

Also, have any flyers that you'd like to see on the newsletter? Send them our way and you'll be sure to see them on next week's edition!

With the rise of AI music it's important to make sure you are listening and supporting real artists. Spotify has been really questionable and it is tough to even think about switching platforms as I have committed to using it for the past 6 years and have found so much good music through spotifies algorithm. We here at JAKE will continue to use Spotify and supply playlists but in no way support the rise and push of AI music. Go to local shows, meet real musicians, and support real art. Here is a playlist of related musicians that create music that would fall into the genre of Post-Hardcore. Give it a listen.

What!? A student made documentary showcasing women in the SLO scene!? OK now this is epic! you definitely need to check this out if you have any appreciation for the local scene. Click above to support Riley Petrocco and Teagan Dees.

Weekly Joke!!

What did the flower say when he was hungry?

I need a light snack :P

Animal Spotlight!

California Kingsnake is a local snake to the central coast and I had the honor of witnessing one cross my hiking path as I was moving through the hills of the area. This elegant creature slithers through the mountains and is generally harmless to humans. While ophiophobia is common these beautifully colored scales creatures are docile and friendly making great pets. Click above to learn more!

WHY J.A.K.E.????

In an ever-evolving age of “new,” smartphones and social media dependency have been on the rise. Social media’s original intention was to connect us but has ultimately separated us further from each other. This newsletter comes to you to lessen your dependency on this isolating technology. We aim to move away from these vices and support those choosing to use the “dumb phone.” Using email rather than social media, this newsletter will supply information on events as well as updates on the music scene within SLO. Without social media, you risk missing out on real social events, but this newsletter will allow you to skip the FOMO and stay in the loop of everything going on in the central coast scene.

This newsletter will update you about shows, gigs, concerts and other events. It will also feature concert reviews, artist spotlights, weekly playlists, and more.
