JAKE is a volunteer organization aimed to help the growth of the local music scene without the use of social media. If you have any ideas or want to get involved please send us an email and we would be happy to collaborate. We cannot do JAKE without you, the reader. Thank you for your support and let's continue to make JAKE the best newsletter it can be.
Also, have any flyers that you'd like to see on the newsletter? Send them our way and you'll be sure to see them on next week's edition!

This week is a double spotlight because there are two albums that I am very excited for the release of. Teethe, an ever evolving slow core band from Texas are releasing their sophomore LP Magic of the Sale and Wombo, an angular 3 piece band from Louisville Kentucky, are releasing their 4th album Danger in Fives. Both of these albums release on Friday August 8th! Click above to be directed to each respective Bandcamp!

Chickens, what would we do without them? These integral part of our life are often overlooked. These feathered friends are more than just food; it is important to remember and praise the animals we consume on the daily. Did you know you can see chickens roaming around in Arroyo Grande? By Rooster Creek, chickens run free and you have the opportunity to see truly cage free beauty fluttering around. Above is a link to a blog post about the amazing capabilities of chickens. On a side note May is international respect for chickens month. While we may have missed our window it is never too late to respect and learn about chickens. Click the image above to learn more.

In an ever-evolving age of “new,” smartphones and social media dependency have been on the rise. Social media’s original intention was to connect us but has ultimately separated us further from each other. This newsletter comes to you to lessen your dependency on this isolating technology. We aim to move away from these vices and support those choosing to use the “dumb phone.” Using email rather than social media, this newsletter will supply information on events as well as updates on the music scene within SLO. Without social media, you risk missing out on real social events, but this newsletter will allow you to skip the FOMO and stay in the loop of everything going on in the central coast scene.
This newsletter will update you about shows, gigs, concerts and other events. It will also feature concert reviews, artist spotlights, weekly playlists, and more.
